Sarah D. Berry, M.D., M.P.H.

Assistant Scientist II, Institute for Aging Research
Associate Professor of Medicine, Department of Medicine Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School
Program Director, Harvard Multicampus Geriatric Medicine Fellowship

Primary research focus has been on outcomes following hip fractures, both in the community and nursing home settings. Given the strong link between falls and fracture, she is also interested in studying novel and modifiable risk factors for falls.

Her current funding is through the NIA to develop a practical model to screen nursing home residents at risk for hip fracture, and to determine whether osteoporotic drugs decrease fracture risk in this setting. This will provide clinical guidance for the treatment of osteoporosis in the nursing home.
